Fashion Runs in the Family: Meet Alana Hadid

“I love fashion, and I really love how fashion can give you your own voice without ever opening your mouth.” — Alana Hadid

If you’re familiar with the world of fashion, chances are you’re constantly hearing about Gigi and Bella Hadid. But, have you heard about their trendy older sister, Alana Hadid?! Known on Instagram as @lanzybear, Alana has a huge fan base of nearly 170K. Over the course of her career, her talents and laid-back attitude have allowed her to conquer the fashion industry. While this is admirable enough, Alana also has many more big things on the way!

Currently, Alana works as a personal shopper, stylist, and designer in the Los Angeles area. In addition, she’s always traveling for her on-the-go lifestyle. To be honest, there’s really nothing Alana doesn’t do. Amongst her chaotic life, this Hadid’s objective is to find the fun in everything she does. She is relaxed and free-spirited, yet stylish, with a comfortable and fun aesthetic that we’re so into.

Alana’s natural beauty, along with her playful, down-to-earth personality is reflected through her Instagram profile. On there, she posts selfies with silly snapchat filters and funny faces amongst all of her chic, high-fashion pics.

While Alana may not have planned to be involved with fashion, the truth is that style runs in her blood. At the University of Arizona, Alana studied political science, and then continued on to receive a masters degree. Alana got her master’s in international relations at Bond University in Australia. After falling in love with fashion, however, she finally entered the industry she was always destined for.

Since then, Alana has worked as the creative designer of three different brands: Current Moji, Hadid Eyewear, and La Detresse. In addition, she also collaborated with clothing brand Lou & Grey. Here she worked to create a line of sweatshirts and accessories with her nickname “lanzybear” embroidered on each!

And now for the big announcement: Fifth & Ninth is the next lucky brand to be working with Alana Hadid!

We are so excited to announce that we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Alana to create our newest case, and we’re seriously dying to show you! To learn more about our collab, click the button below and sign up for our email list to recieve updates!

Jeanette Getrost Collab: The Scoop

fashion illustrator

“Some days are driven by inspiration and I feel this incredible desire to express myself. The process is really my favorite part because I feel most at peace when creating.” — Getrost

We are so excited to announce our upcoming collaboration with Jeanette Getrost, a freelance fashion illustrator who was named one of the industry’s most in-demand illustrators by none other than Vogue magazine!

Throughout the course of her career, Getrost has worked with many luxury brand clients such as Dior, Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and Tiffany & Co. Not to mention, she’s also been featured in our some of our favorite magazines including Vogue, Flaunt, and W Mag! So basically, we’re obsessed.

As you can see through her gorgeous illustrations, Jeanette has a unique take on fashion that’s inspired by not only designers, but also the beautiful world around her. She treasures the vintage aesthetic that’s created through her delicate, exaggerated lines, which we thought would look stunning on a phone case. Jeanette is always working to achieve her vision, and our squad is thrilled to be apart of the process.

Much like us here at Fifth & Ninth, most of Jeanette’s business is done through social media, especially Instagram. She has an insane following of 107K loyal followers, with thousands of likes constantly flooding each photo. So, I guess we’re not the only ones who are obsessed with everything that is Jeanette Getrost.

Aside from her incredible collaborations with esteemed brands, Jeanette also sells her own original artwork online, ranging from fifty-dollar silhouette paintings to three-hundred and fifty dollar fashion illustrations. These feminine artworks are the perfect designs for every aspect of a fashionista’s life. They work flawlessly for wall art, clothing graphics, and everything in between.

In fact, here at Fifth & Ninth, we thought they were so great that we wanted to put them on our cases!

We are so excited to announce that we have created the most feminine, artistic, inspired, and just plain PERFECT phone case that you’re going to be hopelessly in love with. To learn more about the specifics of our collab, click here!

Dive into Color Me Courtney’s candy colored life!

Color Me Courtney, Sprinkles phone case, fun iPhone case, colorful iPhone case, iPhone Case, iPhone, iPhone 7, iPhone 6, Trendy iPhone case

You’re such a globetrotter!  What was your favorite place you’ve visited and why?

Japan by far, Tokyo & Kyoto specifically. We went for a project and I was excited but not expecting to be obsessed, but when I went there I felt home. I hope to move there one day, maybe just for 6 months or maybe I’ll never come back … who knows! I also recently went to Copenhagen! It’s so beautiful and colorful, plus the Danes are some of the nicest people. I was there during the summer when the sun rises at 430 and sets at 1130 pm!

We all know you’re obsessed with color. Out of all the colors, which one is your favorite?

To wear red or yellow, but in general kelly green – I call is Courtney green because no Kelly loves it as much as I do!

What’s what item you can’t live without at the moment and why?

Red lipstick, it’s like my super power! Makes me feel confident, powerful and most myself!

Your dog Waffles is so cute! Can we dog sit for you?

Thank you!!!! You can try, but fair warning he talks! He will mimic you’re tone and cadence, and even sing to you sometimes haha he’s so weird.

What was the inspiration behind the design of your phone cases?

I’m all about a two tone color pallet, combining unexpected colors together into my outfits and even my #colormemani manicures. There you can see the two tone, diagonal inspiration that spilled over into the walking on rainbows multi stripe creation! I also thought of both of my phone cases as customized popsicles – so if I was dipping one into all the flavors (because of course I want all the flavors) or dipping another in a big batch of sprinkles

What was the best/most difficult part of designing your own case?

At first it was thinking of the initial idea, I was a little blank! I have a lot of things I wanted to include, but I also didn’t want to over design it. Then I had too many ideas and had to work to narrow it down to only two cases! Now the best part is that my phone looks exactly like I would want it to look and the case is so me!

What is your favorite/least favorite part about blogging?

My favorite part is being able to inspire and motivate others, the hardest part is being your own boss! I work all day everyday and sometimes want to just take a day off and do nothing, but I can’t because my blog doesn’t survive unless I’m constantly working at it.

How do you find all these colorful locations to shoot at?

Oh it’s fun but a lot of work! I spend about 8 hours weekly just scouting new locations and have to really plan ahead. It is a good way to make you always look for hidden bits of color and find the beauty amongst all the black and white in NYC.

iPhone X Upcoming Release

fifth and ninth, tech accessories, iPhone, iPhone X, iPhone 7, protective case,

The New iPhone is Almost Here!

The Iphone X is set to arrive on October 27, 2017 and we just can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Apple celebrated their 10th anniversary by announcing the release at the Steve Jobs theater.

he new features on this phone will blow your mind. To start, IPhone X is the first of its kind to have an OLED screen, which is also called the Super Retina Display. The screen itself asures 5.8 inches, including a resolution of 2,436 x 1,125 pixels. The new screen was designed to debug old brightness and display issues with the older generations. For our tech geeks, Truetone dynamic white balancing adjustment was also added as a feature.

The whole phone is now one big screen, with a “crack proof” design. That’s a pretty bold statement, and I’d love to be the judge of that.

The phone is designed to be easy and intuitive to navigate. The first physical feature that sets it apart from the other phones is that it no longer has a home button. You can either swipe up or tap the screen to open it. However, no more home button does not mean no more Siri. You can still utilize Siri by speaking or by pressing the larger side button. Double taps also enable apple pay.

No home button means no Fingerprint ID. So how do I unlock my phone?

Obviously the big question is how do you lock your phone without fingerprint recognition. Well, that’s easy. Your face! The IPhone X has a facial recognition feature that uses the True Depth camera system. Take a peek at your phone screen, and it lights up your face to identify you.

It even works in the dark.

As for security, the facial recognition is actually far more secure than the fingerprint scanner. Compared to each other, the likelihood that someone else could unlock your phone with the fingerprint is one in 50,000 and the facial recognition is 1 in a million. There’s also a facial recognition requirement to use your apple pay.

Will it still recognize me if I look different everyday?

Supposedly, Apple stated that it will still recognize you through sunglasses, baseballs caps, and other blocks on your face. Using an A11 Bionic chip, it shapes and creates a map of your face to identify you. It allows you to change, so if you decide to pull a Katy Perry and chop your locks offs, it will still know who you are!

How is the selfie game going to change?

The camera on the IPhone X is going to be the best thing for your instagram since filters. It includes a dual-lens 12-megapixel rear camera. It also includes a dual optical image stabilization. The front camera (selfie camera!) is now a 7-megapixel camera that features portrait mode and has automatic image stabilization and exposure control. In other words, if you’re a selfie queen, this is the phone for you. Both cameras also now use the Natural Lighting effect which was a feature introduced with the IPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The video application was also enhanced with a 4K resolution, and new slow motion video at 240fps.

Is it worth it?

Before the IPhone X had even been announced, people rumored it to cost approximately $1,000. They were correct. The phone starts at $999 and comes in two different memory sizes. It will either be configured at 64GB or 256GB, and can be preordered on October 27th. With all the features and security on this phone, it is a must have!

Will Fifth & Ninth have IPhone X accessories?

Of course! With the IPhone X’s shipping date estimated to be sometime in November, we planned a launch for our cases in November as well! Because the phone is fully glass, be sure to check back in to purchase your new case for your IPhone X (and maybe pick up a screen protector as well!).
