Scotty Cunha’s Top 5 Hairstyles That Make Us Say: “Wait, What!?”

Our newest collaboration with the stylish and sassy, Scotty Cunha, has everyone around us obsessed with his trendy, yet simple, and totally relatable phone case. However, as in love as we all are with his case, we are equally as in love with those magic hands of his! Scotty’s work has gained him over hundreds of thousands of fans as well as A-list celebrity clientele and friends. So, with that being said, let’s take a look at Scotty’s top five hairstyles that make us say: “Wait, What!?”

1. Sofia Richie

If we can count on anyone to pull off this slicked back look, it’s Sofia Richie. Her blonde locks were gelled back by Scotty in 2016 for the InStyle Awards. This bold and sleek style emanates confidence, sophistication, and power. Three things that we can easily say Sofia and Scotty both have incredible amounts of.

The amount of time and precision that Scotty must have put into creating this style and making sure that it would stay in place the entire night of the awards has us all amazed, and, of course, saying “Wait What!?”

2. Model Regina Maria Gonzalez

The next look on our list is this top knot that Scotty put together while demonstrating his favorite ways to use Leonor Greyl hair products. As said by Scotty himself, “A top knot is a quick way to edge up any holiday look!” And we totally agree!

A classic top knot is daring and makes a statement. Much like Scotty. His story of how he went from a barista at Starbucks to a hairstylist for A-list celebrities demonstrates how driven he was to be successful in the world of fashion and beauty because in order to become successful, you have to be daring. And his hairstyles have definitely made the statement that sleek and simple goes a long way!

3. Khloe Kardashian

The Kardashians are known for putting their entire lives on television. We’ve seen them laugh, cry, yell at each other, and most importantly, we’ve seen how flawless their hair and makeup always looks.

Ever wonder who the master behind their perfectly tousled waves is? That’s right, Scotty Cunha! Just from looking at Khloe’s hairstyle in this picture, you’d almost think that she rolled out of bed with this gorgeous hair. However, it was styled with a lot of thought and care in order to appear effortless.

4. Miley Cyrus

We all remember those days back in 2010 when we absolutely adored the long brown locks of Miley Cyrus. And we all remember how much our hearts broke when she decided to chop it all off! (She totally still rocked the pixie cut, though.) Her hair was pretty much every pre-teen girl’s goal in life. Little did we know that the secret to getting such beautiful hair was just to have your own Scotty Cunha!

Miley Cyrus was among one of the first celebrities that Scotty styled. You can give all of the credit for her beachy waves in this shot from Parade magazine to Scotty The Hair God. If that’s not already one of his nicknames, then it is now!

5. Kylie Jenner

The Kardashians happen to be some of Scotty’s most frequent clientele. So much so, that they have actually become BFFs with him. Having a best friend who is also crazy good at styling your hair has to be one of every girl’s dreams in life. At this point, we can all recognize that tousled loose waves seems to be a style that Scotty loves and excels at. And look at that volume!

Kylie is practically known as the “hair chameleon.” She constantly shifts her hair from long to short, and from blue to green to black and to blonde. And she always seems to make it look absolutely stunning. However, we can all agree that her hair looks best when styled by Scotty.

As you can see, we’re kinda, maybe, sort of, a little obsessed with Scotty Cunha and his fantastic hair styling skills. Meet our Creative Director, Bryce McGillivray…

As a native Rhode Islander, Creative Director Bryce McGillivray has brought New York City fashion home and given it her own personal spin!

Bryce graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2014 with a major in Textile Marketing and a minor in Journalism. Shortly after, she took on the big city to make her small-town dreams come true, but what she gained from this experience is more than she could have ever imagined!

Now, Bryce works as the Creative Director of Fifth & Ninth, where she collaborates with designers to bring ideas to life and leads the advertising and marketing efforts of the company.

With Bryce being such an inspiration, we decided to interview her and extract four main pieces of advice that would be helpful to young female entrepreneurs who are striving towards success.

#1
Don’t be afraid of new experiences

First and foremost, we asked Bryce what she believes helped her to get to where she is today. She said that aside from the support of her family and a few important people, it was her experiences that shaped her journey, specifically the experience of living in New York City. Bryce says that it “was a time of growth for [her] as an adult and a professional in the workplace.” She says: “not only did I learn more about myself, but I am still so inspired from that time period in my life and incorporate it into this brand daily.” So, ladies, never shy away from change, even if it may scare you. Instead, run towards new experiences, because they may be the key to your success!

#2
Always believe in yourself

Next, we asked Bryce to reveal the biggest lesson that she’s learned so far, based on her unique experiences. While she said there are a lot of important lessons that she has learned along her journey, she identifies the most critical one to be that you have to believe in yourself 100% before you can expect anyone else to believe in yourself. Bottomline: confidence is key. And, in the wise words of Bryce: “Fake it ’til you make it, sister!

#3
Understand that nothing is impossible

We also asked Bryce what she considers to be her greatest accomplishment in her career so far. She responded by saying that she considers her biggest accomplishment to be working alongside some of her favorite celebrities. For those who don’t know, Fifth & Ninth has collaborated with various notable designers, bloggers, and public figures, including Alana Hadid, Vlada Haggerty, and many more! Bryce says that when she started working in the industry, she would “put people who [she] aspired to be on such a pedestal that felt impossible to reach.” She added, however, that “with every professional milestone, the pedestal became easier and easier to reach.” So, always remember that no dream is too big if you’re willing to work for it!

#4
Know yourself

Finally, we asked Bryce the golden question: What advice would you give to young women who want to succeed in this industry? Her response was simple: “Know yourself.” She says that this is the ground you stand on. Elaborating on that statement, Bryce added that “it’s so important to know your strengths, but it’s even more important to know your weaknesses.” In fact, she recommends that you take a few minutes out of each day to self-reflect. This can make all the difference in the world! Always remember that you have to be your own biggest fan, supporter, and advocate.
